Toshiba Europe GmbH (TEG) is recruiting a Battery System Research Engineer for Regenerative Innovation Centre (RIC). The main focus of RIC is on innovation and technology development functions relevant to green and digital transformation such as carbon neutral, carbon negative and circular economy, with an emphasis on restoration, renewal and sustainability to contribute to the long-term wellbeing of ecosystems, societies and individuals. RIC’s contribution is not limited to EU and UK but it also operates in Japan and globally. TEG is a subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, and has its registered office in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and developing advanced technologies in the areas above through proactive communication with Toshiba Corporation in Japan, global business partners, academia partners and customers. These activities also include, but are not limited to supporting the acquisition of valuable projects with key partners in the EMEA region and collaborating with business divisions of Toshiba Corporation. Additionally, the position plays an important role in producing high-quality patent applications and technical publications as needed.

R&D on battery systems with cell materials developed by Toshiba Corporation [1][2].
This R&D includes but is not limited to technologies of modularization, packaging, system integration such as Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) Systems and e-mobilities, battery-management-system (BMS) implementation and its data handling, recycling, and joint evaluation with potential customers or academia partners in collaboration with battery business and R&D units in Toshiba Group.
The role requires a deep understanding of energy systems and battery systems. Knowledge in the areas of power electronics, model-based-design (MBD), software algorithms related to battery management is recommended. The candidate should have a string a willingness to learn and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
