Tesla Finance Team’s mission is to improve the company operationally and financially by working closely with operations to control costs and improve processes. The team is currently focused on building strong, sustainable processes to support the rapid growth of EMEA.

We are looking for a hands-on Fixed Asset Controller with strong expertise in lease accounting and service contracts to join our dynamic and international team.

• Act as the primary Fixed Asset Controller for leases and service contracts, ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 842).
• Lead or support the implementation, configuration, and optimization of lease accounting systems and tools.
• Manage the full lifecycle of lease accounting, including lease classification, right-of-use asset recognition, lease liability measurement, and subsequent accounting.
• Collaborate closely with Real Estate, Procurement, and Legal teams to review new and modified lease agreements and assess their accounting treatment.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of lease modifications, terminations, and extensions in accordance with US GAAP requirements.
• Perform periodic lease assessments and reconciliations, including verification of lease payments, abatements, and incentives.
• Support month-end and quarter-end closing activities related to leases and service contracts, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Build and maintain efficient reporting tools and dashboards to provide visibility into lease obligations and service contract commitments.
• Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors on lease-related matters, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Prepare and review lease-related disclosures for financial statements, management reports, and external audits.
• Analyze the lease portfolio to identify optimization opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and process improvements.
• Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex lease accounting questions within the team.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of lease accounting processes.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of lease accounting processes, tools, and controls (including those originally designed for intern support programs).

• Extensive hands-on experience in lease accounting under US GAAP (ASC 842), preferably gained in a multinational or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of IFRS 16 is a plus (due to the European location).
• Hands-on personality with a willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams and get involved in day-to-day lease administration and accounting processes.
• Solid understanding of service contract accounting and the distinction between leases and service arrangements under US GAAP.
• Academic degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Advanced Excel and BI skills, with experience using ERP systems and lease management tools.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• High affinity for numbers and comfort working with large data sets.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of end-to-end processes involving contracts, procurement, and financial reporting.
• Ability to support and mentor junior team members or interns on lease accounting processes and tools.
• Proven experience with the implementation, configuration, or optimization of lease accounting systems and tools.
• Strong project management skills with a track record of driving process improvements and system implementations.
