The role
Tesla’s cell manufacturing engineering group is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing process development engineer to accelerate our next generation battery cell manufacturing program. This role will be involved in development, commissioning and ramping of high-throughput equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to test, validate, and roll-out process and product changes.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. The ideal candidate should be ready to push their limits, as they join in highly motivated and capable team to make unbelieve things into reality.
What You'll Do
- Drive development, commissioning, and ramp of complex Mixing manufacturing process equipment.

Lead statistical process control data collection and analysis to identify levers for product quality Improvement

Become subject matter expert to drive process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Monitor changes/improvements with impact on product to ensure process sameness across our 3 sites

Collaborate with new product introduction team to plan, qualify and validate new raw material introduction on existing production lines

Develop and manage FMEA risk assessments to prioritize equipment improvement projects

Work collaboratively with the equipment expert to ensure best quality product possible with existing equipment and provide feedback to drive further improvement

Build training material for process handover to operation (production, quality and maintenance)

Provide hands-on support to production and Manufacturing teams to run product trials.
What You'll Bring
- Either a BS with 6+ years’ relevant experience or an MS with 3+ years relevant experience in cell manufacturing processes, semi-conductors, or equivalent

Strong process or chemical engineering foundations. Aptitude to learn

Demonstrated experience ramping equipment into manufacturing – highly automated processes, powder handling system, dry mixing equipment, and data capture

Structured thinking and problem-solving abilities. Proven through a number of root cause analysis following a data driven approach, statistical software (JMP) a plus
- P&ID, FMEA and MES experience a plus
- Experience in high volume manufacturing is highly desired but strong R&D experience across above field will be equally considered
Willingness to travel to US occasionally
