We’re excited to announce the launch of ‘Flightsize’ lessons - a collection of online video lessons, to support parents across the nation still juggling home-working and home-schooling. Our Pilots are fronting the new initiative and have created a programme of online lessons that include elements of basic geography and science. Johan Lundgren, CEO, said: “We know it isn’t easy for parents having to balance home-schooling with work during lockdown which is why they are always looking for ever-more exciting ways to keep their children busy and entertained in what we hope is the final stretch of home schooling. I am delighted that our pilots and easyJet as an airline can help out in a small way and I hope that children enjoy learning from our fantastic pilots all about how planes fly as well as a behind-the-scenes look at what the job of a pilot is like with these Flightsize lessons.” The six available Flightsize lessons below can all be found on our easyJet YouTube channel. #easyjet #easyjetcareers #belongherewithus #orangespirit

To mark #AskAnApprentice Day we caught up with one of our Data Analysts Edgar, who is lucky enough to be one of the first apprentices to enrol on a new course. (The full blog can also be found on our LinkedIn and Facebook Careers pages) Edgar is part of The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Specialist course which was created and launched last year with training provider- Cambridge Spark. Here's what our Apprenticeship and Early Career's Manager, Charlotte had to say about apprenticeships at easyJet- “We use apprenticeships to help build and develop the skills of employees, so that in turn they support the growth and priorities of the business.” Charlotte is also part of the Aviation Industry Skills board and recently joined others to discuss the importance of apprenticeships and why they are vital to the recovery of aviation. We’re proud to announce that we’ve been recognised in the listing of Britain’s Most Admired Companies. For the second year running we’ve won the Transport (People) category which includes other transport brands and competitors. Our efforts across the airline have also seen us come top in four of the criteria sectors within our category. Our Group People Director Ella, had this to say: “Winning awards always makes me feel very proud of our people and our unique orange spirit – and winning this category award for the second year given the backdrop of what we have all been through over the past twelve months is truly remarkable. It is the talent, strength and character of our fantastic people who continue to deliver, serve our customers and make working here great – even in the most challenging of times."
Last year we signed the Time to Change pledge which is all about breaking down the stigma that still exists around mental health. This year, to build on this further, we’re celebrating Time to Talk day by encouraging our people to stay connected; reaching out to each other, sharing stories and remembering that it’s ok – not to be ok. This years’ Time to Talk Day theme is the ‘Power of Small’. Just by putting in a call to a friend, colleague or family member to see how they are could change the way they view the rest of their day. Small things, especially during current times, really can make the biggest difference. To fully support the well-being of our people, we’re actively promoting a variety of content and resources available via our You Matter hub which all suit a range of different learning styles; all with the same aim of supporting everyone to proactively manage mental health. #easyjet #easyjetcareers #youmatter #timetotalk #powerofsmall

We are incredibly proud to be working with the NHS for our cabin crew to be recruited and fast tracked to become vaccinators, assisting the NHS in their efforts to protect the nation’s health and roll out this crucial vaccination programme across the UK. Katy has been cabin crew for easyJet since 2005 and is one of hundreds of our crew who have already applied to become vaccinators and support the NHS: "Like everyone, I’m incredibly grateful to our NHS and all frontline healthcare workers for all they continue to do for the country with the continued pressure they are facing from the virus, so when the opportunity came for cabin crew to assist the NHS as vaccinators I knew I wanted to apply. As cabin crew we are in a great position to support the vaccination effort because of the first aid and safety-focused training we receive for our job, so I am sure I will be joined by many of my fellow cabin crew at easyJet who will want to support the NHS in the vital roll-out of the vaccine across the country."
