G. James Windows and Doors, located in Canberra, supplies, sells and installs a wide range of aluminium windows and doors to the local residential and commercial construction markets. We are looking for a Branch Manager with a tactical approach to lead our Canberra Windows & Doors operations.

The Role
As Branch Manager, you’ll take the lead in driving performance, efficiency and growth across all areas of our Canberra Windows & Doors operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee production, finance, safety, sales, customer service, and people management, ensuring the branch operates at its best every day.
You’ll inspire, develop and empower your team while driving innovation and operational excellence to deliver outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the branch to meet customer needs while controlling costs and achieving sales, profit and DIFOT targets.
- Coach, develop and motivate a team of around 10-15 employees to deliver high-quality aluminium windows and doors on time and to specification.
- Identify, implement, and champion operational improvements and process efficiencies.
- Influence daily decision-making and resource allocation to optimise performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and ensure construction project requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with all organisational, safety, and legislative requirements, maintaining a culture of accountability and care.
The Person
You’re a driven and results-focused leader who takes pride in quality, teamwork, and operational excellence. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring a practical, hands-on approach to leadership.
What You’ll Bring:
- Industry expertise: Extensive experience in construction or manufacturing (windows and doors highly regarded), with exposure to production operations and commercial contracting, ideally with Tier 1 builders.
- Leadership strength: Proven ability to mentor, develop, and empower teams to achieve success while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations.
- Excellent communicator: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and organisational skills with sharp attention to detail.
- Commercial acumen: Sound financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking, with the discipline and focus to deliver results.
- Tech savvy: Confident using Microsoft Office, ERP, CRM, and quoting systems (e.g. V6).
- Customer focus: A passion for delivering quality outcomes and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Safety mindset: Solid understanding of Health & Safety standards and a commitment to creating a safe workplace.
