About the Role

As a Reconciliation Officer, you will be responsible for completing daily and monthly reconciliations across the General Ledger, suspense accounts, group payment clearing streams and BOQ branch operations, supporting multiple brands across the Group. The role plays a critical part in ensuring transactions are accurately processed to customer accounts and reflected correctly in the GL, while also supporting month‑end trust processes and validating data included in the monthly Trust Manager’s report.

You will investigate reconciliation exceptions to determine root causes, working closely with operational business units to resolve issues efficiently and minimise customer or financial impact. This includes managing aged exception items, preparing journals for settlement of funds via Cuscal and BOQ, completing daily cash transfers for reconciled trust clearing transactions, and escalating system or file issues that may affect customers or the Bank.

In addition to core reconciliation activity, you will provide technical expertise on transaction flows, responding to transactional enquiries and assisting stakeholders to resolve complex issues with consideration to both customer outcomes and financial controls. You will also contribute to continuous improvement through clear documentation, preparation of month‑end balance reporting, coaching or training other Reconciliation Officers as required, and supporting the integrity and robustness of Group Finance reconciliation processes.

About You

You bring experience working in a high‑volume reconciliation or transactional finance environment, ideally with exposure to daily and month‑end reconciliations across the General Ledger, clearing and suspense accounts. You are comfortable working with reconciliation systems and have a solid understanding of banking operations, including how transactions flow through systems and impact both customer accounts and the GL.

You have a naturally curious mindset and enjoy investigating exceptions to understand root causes and identify practical solutions. You take pride in accuracy and controls, while also looking for opportunities to improve processes, strengthen reconciliation outcomes and reduce repeat issues through better documentation, insight and collaboration.

You are confident engaging with stakeholders across operational and finance teams, able to clearly explain reconciliation findings and provide informed guidance on transaction issues. Your strong communication skills, attention to detail and collaborative approach enable you to work effectively across the business while supporting positive customer outcomes and maintaining the integrity of financial reporting.
