After a banner year that included the triumphant return of Michigan Central Station and induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame, Ford’s Executive Chair was honored as one of Detroit’s visionaries. Every January, Hour Detroit Magazine celebrates a select few individuals who have made an impact on the Detroit metro area by naming them to the Hour Detroiters List. Now, after a year that saw both the culmination of an ambitious plan to resurrect a Detroit landmark in Michigan Central Station and induction into the Automotive Hall of Fame, Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford has been announced as being honored with inclusion on the 2025 Detroiters incarnation of the list.

As we celebrate Ford Philanthropy’s 75 years of impact, we’re throwing it back to 1949, when Henry Ford II established the Ford Motor Company Fund, now known as Ford Philanthropy, to help shore up a gap in private funding for charitable organizations during the post-war recession. Since then, Ford Philanthropy has remained firm in its commitment to uplifting communities and steadily growing its impact, partnering with nonprofits and community organizations in more than 30 countries, and investing more than $2.3 billion in philanthropic contributions in partnership with Ford Motor Company. If you care about building a better world, Ford offers many avenues to make a difference with your skills and time. Join us at www.careers.ford.com. #WeAreFord #FordPhilanthropy #TBT
Today, Ford has operations in more than 125 countries and territories around the world, but back in 1904, the new company had yet to set foot outside of the U.S. Just across the Detroit River in Canada, Gordon McGregor was taking note of the up-and-coming automotive companies and saw a way to bring the industry to Canada and revitalize his company, the Walkerville Wagon Works, at the same time. It developed into a momentous partnership that shaped the future of Ford. Would you like to be part of history? It began on Aug. 17, 1904. Although barely one year old, Ford took its first step outside of the U.S. into Canada when Henry Ford and Gordon McGregor inked a deal that created the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. Production began in Walkerville, now Windsor, Ontario and 17 employees built 117 cars, including Ford Model C and Model B, in the first year. As the country’s longest-established automaker, Ford of Canada is proud to have employed thousands of Canadians over the years and produced everything from cars and trucks to vans and SUVs, not to mention Ford V8 engines. “Although 120 years in Canada is an incredible milestone, what makes me proud is the innovation and determination it took to get here,” said Bev Goodman, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. “That hard work has made the Ford F-Series the best-selling pickup in Canada for 58 consecutive years and has made Ford the best-selling automotive brand in the country for 15 years running.” “The heart that has powered this organization for 120 years and will propel us into the future is our people,” said Goodman. “Our amazing Canadian team, along with our network of Dealers, have always been at the core of our success and longevity.” Every Ford rolling down a Canadian road reflects 120 years of experience, knowledge, and innovation. Looking forward, we’ll continue to be here for Canadians in the decades and centuries ahead – every step of the way. Building trust, one kilometre, one moment, one Ford, at a time.
