As a member of the Procurement Team, you will contribute to achieving positive procurement outcomes that support a strong and sustainable future for Queensland. The team's work is guided by foundational pillars that reflect the values, aspirations and priorities of the Queensland Government.
This role supports a strategic procurement approach that maximises value for money for taxpayers, strengthens local businesses, simplifies procurement processes, encourages innovation and delivers positive economic, environmental and social outcomes.
Your responsibilities
As the Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage a customer service team culture, building capability in relation to strategy, sourcing, contract management, delivery and performance.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in contemporary procurement and contract management practices, through development of the organisational strategic plan, policy and procedural framework, training and guidance material.
- Deliver enabling procurement services to the department ensuring quality customer experience, compliance with procurement requirements, and alignment with departmental and Queensland government priorities and objectives.
- Provide timely, independent and well-informed strategic and operational procurement and contract management advice.
- Undertake whole of government and/or agency procurement performance monitoring and reporting.
- Actively develop, maintain and negotiate strong and productive internal and external stakeholder relationships, including internal clients, government agencies, contractors, and suppliers.
- Work in partnership with stakeholder groups to develop and execute market research, risk analysis, sourcing strategies, procurement plans, evaluation plans and matrices, contract specifications, supplier performance management plans.
- Establish and maintain systems and processes to ensure corporate systems, records and reports are robust, accurate, consistent and complete.
- Represent the department in key forums related to procurement and ensure implementation, monitoring and evaluation of relevant trends and developments.
- Lead and cultivate a high performing team through effective leadership, empowerment of staff, supportive feedback on performance and promotion of professional development.

- Experience managing a complex team in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of contemporary procurement practices over the lifecycle of procurement
- Strong awareness of the requirements of flexible governance, monitoring and reporting

- Ability to establish and manage the ongoing development of productive working relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and team members.
Desirable Role Requirements
- Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification such as Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, Finance, Law or a related discipline would be
highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in applying the Queensland Procurement Policy (or a comparable framework) and the Queensland Government Consultant and Contractor Procurement Framework to deliver effective procurement outcomes.
