Pros

Tight-knit teams, good benefits compared to similar employers, 401k provided with matching contributions (must be with the company 6yrs to get 100% matching contributions, matches a higher percentage every year until then), keeps you physically fit, requests for time off are approved 99% of the time with adequate notice, company will pay you for mileage, your hourly rate for drive time (if driving further than your normal store), per diem for meals, and book hotels whenever you travel to cover shifts at other stores-if the store is 2hrs+ away-, managers will work with you for more flexible scheduling if you ask.

Kontras

Working at Aldi is NOT for most people. Full stop. Extremely fast-paced environment, complex multi-tasking, timed on curbside shopping and cashiering/scanning, time limits (goals) while stocking as well. All Aldi stores work with a ‘skeleton crew’, least amount of workers possible (sometimes not even possible for many people). Aldi is NOT a job where you can fly under the radar if you’re half-a$$ing things, not finishing your tasks, or sneaking off to hide and play on your phone. Only 2-3 people working most of the time, we WILL immediately notice when 1 person disappears/didn’t do their job. Extremely physical job, very hard on your body; and that physical labor has to be done at breakneck speed. Part-timers get a real crap hand with hours at times, at slower stores you may get 0-6 hrs a week for weeks with little warning-you’ll have to try to pick up last min shifts from call-outs at other locations to get hours those weeks. High stress. Very few cashiers last more than a month or two, cashiers must manage all self-checkouts, pulling boxes and fixing displays for half the sales floor, cleaning restrooms, gathering and taking out all store trash, and more all while being the only cashier-must get customers through as fast as possible too because you are timed and get a score for every shift that you cashier. If your scores/times are not fast enough and you aren’t getting all your tasks completed you will start getting fewer shifts-1 person slacking or lacking totally screws over the other 1-2 people working with them and everyone who works the next shifts.

Pros

Great coworkers, nice work flow.

Kontras

You have to do a lot in an opening shift. You have x hours to stock all the pallets before open, sometimes there are a lot so you have to move quickly.
