Cundall and Gensler’s submission wins the Norman Foster Foundation’s Kharkiv Housing Challenge We are delighted to announce that ‘Healing Kharkiv: From rubble to renewal’, a collaborative proposal from Cundall and Gensler, has won first prize in the Norman Foster Foundation’s Kharkiv Housing Challenge. The success of this submission is also attributed to Pashenko Architects, Neo-Eco, Never Such Innocence, Andrii Hirniak and Renderek, who all collaborated with us on the project.
Carole O’Neil wins a gold, silver and bronze medal at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation Championships! Carole O’Neil, Managing Partner at Cundall, represented England and won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation Championships in Sun City, South Africa in October 2024. Carole was in the Masters 1 Under 76kg category and her competition spanned across two dates. The first being the Bench Press Only event and a second Full Power. At the Bench Press Only event Carole pressed 80kg, 85kg and 90kg, with 90kg being her Personal Best and setting a new record for her home division of Yorkshire and North East.
Rick Carr, one of our founding partners, has passed away at age 78. Rick founded the practice in Newcastle in 1976, alongside Michael Burch, Geoffrey Cundall, David Gandy, and Bernard Johnston. He played an instrumental role in the businesses' global growth, especially by persuading Laurie Clark to join him in establishing the practice’s London office in 1981. The pair formed a formidable double act and remained lifelong friends.

Cundall lights up Europe’s largest digital ceiling screen Cundall has led the lighting scheme for Printworks in Manchester, a £21 million redevelopment which boasts Europe’s largest digital ceiling screen. Located in the heart of Manchester’s city centre retail district, this vibrant entertainment and leisure centre has found itself a home in a 150-year-old listed building. The aesthetics only add to what the venue already has to offer. The ceiling screen is a whopping 1000m2 in area, the largest in Europe and first of its kind in the UK, it completely transforms the space.
Cundall taps talent of Indian engineers with new office opening in Bengaluru Cundall is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Bengaluru, India. The new office aims to leverage the high level of engineering talent in India, allowing those employed by the practice to add their expertise to myriad global projects without having to relocate. Located in the heart of Bengaluru, the newest global office is the third to be opened by Cundall this year. The decision to open an office in India reflects significant economic growth in the region, as well as requests from existing global clients for Cundall to support their local development plans.
Cundall celebrated the ongoing growth of its business in Asia-Pacific and the first anniversary of establishing an office in Manila, the Philippines on 21st February at an anniversary event co-hosted with the British Embassy Manila.
