As Chief Safety Officer at the Venetia Mine Underground Project in South Africa, Pheonah Pfananani Salani looks after maintaining the culture of 'safety first'. "This is done through proactive processes to identify and address leading indicators" she explains. UK - Anglo American in North Yorkshire is working to meet this demand for sustainable agricultural solutions. The nutrient-rich mineral extracted at the Woodsmith mine is certified for organic use, with a 90% lower carbon footprint than traditional fertiliser products. Microwave technology is helping us to reduce the amount of energy we use to break up rock. This technology is used underground to create fractures along natural grain boundaries within the rock face, conditioning the rock. Innovations such as this stand us in good stead as we strive to minimise energy consumption across our operations.
