Pros

TI is OK if you are fresh out of school. That is what they like to hire because you are cheap. But, don't plan on staying for more than 5 years or you will find your skills becoming obsolete. You can't learn new skills at TI and they don't even allow participation in industry conferences other than their own.

Kontras

TI's embedded processor business has not introduced a new design in about 5 years. There is no innovation except in analog circuits. Very bad for software engineers. All digital chip design, manufacturing and most software development is outsourced. Age discrimination is systematic through a secretive stack-ranking system that is gamed by more experienced managers. You must be in management by age 45 or be gone and it's best to be gone. Most of buildings in the Dallas campus look like they have not been remodeled since the 1980s. The Hallways, cubicles and cafe are dirty and the restrooms are disgusting. When I left they still had a rear-projection TV in the cafe! This is not a modern company.

Pros

Great learning opportunity, would recommend to new college grads Above average pay for the industry Very friendly colleagues who want to transfer knowledge WLB is team dependent

Kontras

Team has reduced to 1/3 of original size in less than 2 years, but BU is mostly hiring in India Refuses to hire externally in US (only internal reqs) to fill roles lost from attrition, instead management dumps responsibilities on rest of team members (with no pay raise to match) Management refused to address 2025 layoffs, employee morale is very low Limited mobility and (capped) yearly performance bonus Restructured profit sharing to effectively be a pay cut (-7%) Unclear job description, constantly changing priorities, management is out of touch with employees Innovation isn't emphasized, new products are mostly IP re-use Employee burn-out common Definite decline in work culture since 2023 RSU vesting schedule is bad (4 years)
