Work Life balance and Culture is great.

-Improper Role Mapping: As a fresher I was hired as a Software Engineer but was mapped to an analyst position. I wanted to code, but all I do now is attend meetings, work on excel and word documents. -Very Few IT projects: Most of the IT projects here are outsourced to service based companies like TCS, Accenture, wipro etc. Higher management is clueless about technologies here. Most of the applications run here on outdated(soon to be decommissioned) technologies and systems. -Inflexibility of Role Switch: HR has a company wide policy which says you can switch your role only after 4 years which is completely stupid. Why let someone work in the same role if he/she isn't interested in it. Advice to freshers : Do not join this company blindly. Even if they are paying you a good salary there's a very less chance that you will be mapped to a good and correct role. Out of 100 students who joined shell in my batch only around 6-10 got a good role. Rest of them are just stuck here. You won't be able to build up your technical skills. During a recent layoff cycle few got impacted, now they don't have any skill to switch to a good company.

Shell is a wonderful company to work for. They truly support your continued development and many employees have been here for 20+ years. The work culture is one that provides a feeling of true psychological safety.
