Pros

I was retired for years from my Corporate job. Decided that I wanted a part time job to get out of the house. This was my “Happy Place”. Never had a job that I loved so much. Worked hard, had the best customers (loyal) co workers. I learned so much about fashion and dressing different body types. I’ve been in different stores since I left as a customer buying myself clothes. Several ladies came up to me to ask how I am doing this! You’re wonderful at putting things together. I actually helped them put together wardrobes from what I learned. I felt an immense proudness working for RL. I still do. My managers were great and wouldn’t ask you to do anything they wouldn’t. Best of all is the discounts. After almost 5 years of working there, I realized it cost me money to work there. Lol. I’m a clothes nut. I never ever left a shift without a brown paper bag with a Polo Horse on it.

Kontras

Some employees are very cut throat about individual sales. We were NOT on commission. Some employees just need to calm down and realize that we work as a team. Most do, but a few bad apples. Not much.

Kontras

The decision-making process can be overly top-down, often disregarding the professional dignity of the employees.

Pros

It's a larger company with many resources and there are good people, like any organization, that are lovely to work with. There are also opportunities within the organization to explore other roles. I would recommend for individuals that truly love the RL brand or fit their American image. At the end of the day, it's a "good" company to work for. I've met the CEO, Patrice, a handful of times and I have hope that he is leading this company to a more fair and respectable company. It will just take more time.

Kontras

•It's a very White American company that lacks diversity. As an Asian American, there has been many instances when I felt that I was left out. I had many instances where employees treated me as a foreigner. •In my position, it has been enforced that I wear Ralph Lauren on the daily. However, the company does not provide credits to full time employees to purchase clothes. Therefore, all of these purchases are out of pocket. Luckily, I was provided a one time "bonus" that had to be spent on RL clothes as a temp employee. However, at the end of the day, that money is taxed on my end. •This is also my first company where there are NO BONUSES for positions under director level. RL benefits compared to emerging start ups fall quite short. •There are moments within the organization where it felt very cult-like. Executive level is seen as almost "god-like" within the organization. RL emphasizes that they carry Ralph Lauren's humanity but I definitely did not feel that from my position. In my personal experience, I do feel that I was working at a hostile environment due to the treatment by my manager. I do not believe HR care about these behaviors.
