Pros

Great benefits and pay for those not affected by the 2024 lay off. Talent management team has great leadership programming, that team is awesome. Most employees are wonderful human beings.

Kontras

The layoff back in July 2024 altered the culture of the company. The C level executives made a joke about it in the days following, which felt really disrespectful. Many were able to see that certain 'redundancies' were hand selected and not based on anything other than personal distaste. Information is often not passed down properly from leadership to their teams. Many employees didn't know members of their team were impacted until weeks later. There are issues with communication from leadership at all levels in most departments. Leadership in Talent Acquisition and HR are unfortunately very flawed female leaders and difficult to work for. It's nice to see women in positions of power (good for RWE as a whole), but unfortunate when favoritism runs rampant across the entire department. HR leadership often thwarts the ideas of their team, silently behind the curtain, so there is no paper trail, and shows little to no championing of their causes and additional work they take on outside of their job description. In fact I once heard this person say 'why do my people need a pat on the back, shouldn't they just do their jobs...' Not the motivating leader you'd hope for. Asked to enter things into tracking systems inaccurately in order to make stats look more appealing to the C-suite. I can attest to infighting between HR and TA, which is unfortunate and at a loss to the other departments they serve. Heads of HR and heads of TA would often look to get the other in trouble or written up, just trying to get the best of the other. Very immature behavior. Private conversations are often talked about in the open office environment, which was damaging, hurtful, and unnecessary. A lot of whispering which made many feel very uncomfortable.

Pros

The actual day-to-day team is amazing. It’s full of high-performing renewable energy experts who genuinely care about the mission.

Kontras

Honestly? Save yourself the heartbreak and stay away. Since October, they have completely gutted the culture. It went from a mission-driven renewable energy company to a hyper-political club defined by favoritism read GOP politics. Behind the scenes: They used a fake "restructuring" to do quiet layoffs. They shrunk our teams and forced people to reapply for jobs in different cities. They knew people with families and mortgages couldn't just uproot their lives, so it was a calculated move to force 40+ people to quit so they wouldn't have to pay severance. Then they went ahead and hired their own people that weren't even in the cities they had advertised the jobs in. Insane Double Standards: They told us our local offices were "non-essential" to justify pushing us out, but then they immediately turned around and hired leadership that don't live near regional offices. So, they just fly in whenever they feel like it while mandating strict office attendance for everyone else. Management in a nutshell: They started pushing out 20-year renewable energy veterans and replacing them with their old corporate buddies from Chevron and people from the GOP sector. They don't care if you actually know anything about renewable energy anymore; they only care if your political and personal background matches their new agenda. One of the lowest points from this year: When they made us reapply for our jobs, they actually asked people about their personal relationship status to judge if they were "viable" for the team's new direction. They announced this whole restructure on the first hour of a team offsite. It was incredibly toxic. Total Leadership Vacuum: There is zero empathy or real communication here. Leadership doesn't interact with our team. They literally send Copilot AI summaries instead of actually managing or talking to human beings. HR has been completely useless—ignoring emails for over six months and failing to give anyone clear answers about their benefits or transition.
