Pros

1. This place promotes learning culture. You get to try new positions (even jumping from tech to non-tech position or vice versa) and learn in different departments without having to re-apply for job openings. 2. This place promises to reward long-term commitment with more appealing benefits the longer you stay. Many benefits here is very good and fitting for people who are looking for a company to settle down and grow long-term.

Kontras

1. Performance Assessment process is brutal. You will be relatively ranked with your own colleagues (even though you all have been a "team" for the past year) and there is no bottom line. So even if you meet all your work goals / alignments / and expectations, if your peers all meet their own work goals as well and more, you will still be place in bottom rank and put through PIP. 2. The opportunity to explore and broaden your skill comes at a cost of sacrificing your specialty. Your skills will most likely be widen but rarely deepen.

Pros

Great all around compensation - from salary, benefits (401k & pension & flexible work], medical [fantastic] Great people - at the company you understand everyone around is came from being one of the smartest people at their previous job/university. Within IT the overwhelming majority of people really care for you, this feels way more collaborative than competitive. Career Development - lots of opportunities to grow in breadth of experience to get deep in your skills and grow in leadership skills

Kontras

Work Politics - being such a large corporation with a lot of history there is a tendency to be work politics/red tape sheerly because of the size of the company. However, it is not really bad if you are willing network , put yourself out there to talk with leaders, and be a normal hard-working enjoyable employee. If you do these two things you will succeed at ExxonMobil.
