I went through two rounds of interviews. The first was with an HR rep and went well. I was told the job was in location X and I told them I was comfortable with the pay. The second interview was a waste of time. The hiring manager rescheduled last minute on me when they should have just cancelled. It was supposed to be a 30-45 minute interview but it lasted five minutes. The job at the location I applied for never existed, it was at a different location which was cancelled and the job I’m interviewing for is at a third location. The manager proceeded to tell me the job wasn’t very good and the pay was too low for me (a salary I already said I’d accept). The only question I was asked was to tell the manager about my background. Before I could even finish the manager cut me off to tell me he wasn’t interested in me as a candidate and told me he was sure I could find something better. What a total waste of time. I will not be applying for this company again. Who wants to work for a company that turns down applicants for being overqualified.

The interview was an in depth phone interview, lasting longer than most, around an hour and a half. The benefit of this was that at the end of the interview, I felt as though I had thoroughly demonstrated my skills, knowledge, and abilities and had given the interviewer all the information about myself relevant to this position. The start of the interview was the employer telling me about what the position entails. Then, the questions included some basic HR questions, about experience working as a team, times when you disagreed with your supervisor, times you have faced a problem and how you overcame this. There were a lot of pauses for him to take notes. Overall it was a great interview process where I felt I was able to show fully who I am and why I wanted that position. I ultimately declined the offer because the pay was too low for the Bay Area.
