Today we announced an expanded collaboration with Microsoft through which Wejo’s real-time mapping and traffic data will be integrated with Microsoft mapping services to deliver enhanced accuracy, safety, and efficiency to its location services. Accidents around roadworks cause as many as 750 deaths every year. In the US, Wejo's connected vehicle data is already being used by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to reduce the number of accidents and casualties around roadworks. Using harsh braking data from Wejo, their research with Purdue University found that accidents were being caused long before roadworks signage appeared, with being unaware that stopped traffic was to be expected. They found that by increasing awareness of roadworks earlier can reduce crashes by as much as 50 percent. Read all about their insights in the article below.
