Join us at our recent London Build event, where we joined forces with our social impact partners, The Washing Machine Project, to successfully assemble nine life-changing 'Divya 1.65 flat-pack' washing machines. 🙌 From this batch, five of these machines are set to be sent to Shangilia, a school dedicated to providing support for street children in Nairobi, Kenya. Additionally, three machines will be making their way to an orphanage in Mombasa, Kenya. We've set specific diversity targets to ensure our team reflects the communities we serve by working towards 40% of our leaders being women and 25% ethnically diverse by 2030. We also ask our supplier partners to prioritise diversity and inclusion within their own businesses and sourcing programmes with their suppliers. As part of this commitment, we have established our first supplier diversity and inclusion programme within the RS Integrated Supply business in the US. We have chosen to start in the US as supplier diversity within procurement is already a mature and best practice approach there due to supporting regulation. It is also a high priority for our customers. Our aim is to provide opportunities to businesses that have historically been underrepresented in global supply chains by making it easier for them to partner with us. We’ve got some great news to share, as we have won the award for Best Company for Sustainability Reporting within the Industrials sector at the Corporate ESG Awards 2023. Awards categories were assessed by a panel of independent judges comprising of sustainability professionals in the financial markets, academics and independent experts. Sunday 10th September was 2023's Suicide Prevention Day! We're sharing an incredible story from our RS Family to help raise awareness this Suicide Prevention Day. ❤️ It comes from two colleagues, Jenny and Stuart, who virtually met on LinkedIn, before Stuart joined RS. Stuart noticed that Jenny had commented on a mental health page that she followed; who were advertising mental health awareness pins, which she wanted to get for her 15-year-old, Izzy, who had suffered with mental health. Jenny shared "I couldn’t risk getting something like a pin, so wanted to know if they did a magnet version." "When Stuart joined RS in December, he came to me and said he had something for me… he had ordered the pins, removed the pin and converted them to magnets!" She added, "I do believe this act of kindness has helped Izzy to be open about her mental health even more and realize she can have a future and dream big."
