It's called Generations, and it offers education, activities, and wellness programs at our hospitals throughout the Dallas area. Recently, Methodist Midlothian hosted an educational seminar for seniors in Ellis County. Nathan Kody Yerger, MD, a family medicine physician at Methodist Family Health Center – Midlothian, talked about respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), including its symptoms and the increased risk it poses to aging adults. Everyone 55 and older needs to know about this infection. We're spreading the news to help prevent the spread of the disease!
Anticipation is building as Methodist Celina continues taking shape in northern Collin County. Two large crosses were installed on the hospital’s exterior. Crosses have been a defining feature of every Methodist Health System hospital since our founding almost a century ago. Methodist Midlothian is doubly proud of its recent accolades. The hospital was included in Becker’s Hospital Review's list of the top 350 cleanest hospitals in the United States! The ranking is based on hospitals with a five-star cleanliness rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) patient survey (the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems). Director of Support Services Renee Trussell says that it's hard work keeping the hospital immaculate 24/7, and this recognition is a testament to the efforts of our environmental services team.
Unite Ellis is an organization that has established food pantries in all Midlothian ISD schools. At Methodist Midlothian, we held a food drive to help them stock their shelves. The food and other items collected will fill stomachs and meet the needs of our community's students throughout the year. Very satisfying!
Methodist Dallas and Methodist Health System employees packed two SUVs full of school supplies to donate to Hogg New Tech Elementary School in Oak Cliff. The donation will help teachers and students launch the new school year. Any supplies they don't need now will go into the school's supply closet, which families and teachers can use throughout the year. Smart move!
Methodist Southlake teamed up with the Trophy Club Fire Department to teach CPR to the staff of a local restaurant. The employees were motivated to learn CPR after a customer went into cardiac arrest earlier this year. Last year, the hospital held its first EMS Conference at the restaurant. This year, employees themselves got to learn how to save a life. We love that!
Methodist Charlton kicked off its Legislative Breakfast Series with state Sen. Royce West and U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett slated to speak. The annual event, a collaboration with the Best Southwest Partnership, allows policymakers, educators, and healthcare leaders to discuss how legislation affects their decision-making. Our leaders, President Michael Stewart and Chief Nursing Officer Jeremy Taylor, were there to contribute their wisdom.
Congratulations to our 2024 Class XIII Emerging Leader graduates on successfully completing their program.
The first class of paramedics has graduated from the North Texas Paramedic Education Consortium, a collaboration between Methodist Health System and the University of Texas at Dallas. The program supplements the university’s existing EMT training program and helps educate future paramedics. “This program is yet another example of how Methodist is committed to growing our own and sharing our resources to expand the community of healthcare,” says Robert Simonson, MD, chair of emergency medicine at Methodist Dallas and the consortium’s medical director. Nearly 30 students performed rotations at Methodist Dallas, Methodist Richardson, and Methodist Mansfield. Congratulations, graduates!
Congratulations to the emergency department at Methodist Mansfield! They are among only 94 EDs in the nation (and three in Dallas-Fort Worth) to receive the Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association. The honor recognizes that they are committed to quality, safety, a healthy work environment, and innovation in nursing and emergency care. It's well deserved!
