Bringing Back the Beauty: Replanting Live Oaks Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast There’s something timeless and majestic about a row of live oak trees lining a Southern highway. Their sprawling branches, deep green canopies, and enduring presence speak to the character and resilience of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. That’s why our mission is simple but significant: to replant native trees—primarily live oaks—along the major corridors leading into and throughout the MS Gulf Coast. Why Live Oaks? We all know the practical benefits of trees. They help reduce flooding by absorbing excess rainwater. They clean the air, remove pollutants, produce oxygen and cool the ground surface. But the live oaks offer something even more: a sense of place and pride. These iconic trees don’t just beautify the landscape, they help shape the identity of our communities. People are naturally drawn to beautiful communities, and areas lined with mature trees tend to experience stronger economic development. Businesses thrive, property values rise, and neighborhoods flourish. In other words, when we plant live oaks, we’re not just planting trees—we’re investing in the future of our coastal communities.
