How are smaller #uncrewed #aircraft systems offering the same performance impact as large #UAS in highly contested environments? Today's battlefield presents a greater need for adaptability, delivering convenience and flexibility with a much smaller logistics footprint. “There is a growing need for a single, highly flexible UAS that can meet the needs at all echelons, from the company level to the brigade,” said Allen Gardner, CTO of Edge Autonomy. With years of deployed operations and hundreds of thousands of flight hours accross six continents, our UAS solutions provide the warfighter with field-proven systems ready to face any mission challenge. Through a major performance enhancement to our #VXE30 #Stalker through a series of subsystem upgrades – known collectively as the “Havoc” configuration – we have more than doubled the flight endurance and payload capacity of the base VXE30 Stalker system. With the integration of beyond line of sight (BLOS) capabilities, the #Havoc is able to perform roles previously executed by larger aircraft. The smaller and more efficient configuration allows one or two operators to carry out all system logistics – from transportation to assembly to launch – in less than 15 minutes and provide persistent #ISR coverage from up to 500km away. As ISR sensors become smaller and more sophisticated, they’re being deployed on uncrewed platforms for a growing number of civil and defense applications — creating longer standoff distances and providing a wealth of often life-saving information for law enforcement, warfighters and search and rescue teams. Edge Autonomy CTO Allen Gardner recently spoke with Inside Unmanned Systems to discuss mission-driven technology advancements - ISR capabilities that were once only possible with large aircraft operating from established airfields are now being deployed on much smaller platforms that can be launched from dirt roads or even roof tops. “The world has changed, and most of these operators can’t stay stationary and don’t have access to well established airfields,” Allen said. “There is no air superiority. These operators must be able to go deep into certain areas and provide their own organic ISR and their own airborne lethal munitions.” #ISR #UAS #TechnologyAdvancements
