Investing in port infrastructure and U.S. mariners is essential to keeping the flow of supplies that our communities need. James C. Fowler, senior vice president and general manager of Crowley Shipping, testified at a U.S. House joint committee field hearing in Miami on the importance of continuing those investments, the critical need to address shortfalls of mariners, as well as prioritizing safety and security for America's ports and maritime industry. "An important part of maintaining resiliency in our supply chains is ensuring that our nation’s port infrastructure receives the investment necessary to accommodate the movement of trade both now and in the future," Fowler stated, also noting, "while progress has been made in addressing various challenges facing the maritime industry, continued vigilance and investment are essential to ensure the safety, security, and resilience of our ports and supply chains."
