I applied for LBLP through Seek in March 2019. A day or so later, I got invited to an employee screening.
A bunch of us - I want to say 12? - waited in the lobby while we filled out questions with our personal details.
Once that was done, we went into a little room where we watched a video about the history of LBLP. We then had to do a spelling test made up of 25 words. 20 were real, 5 were nonsense to test your phonics skills. This took about 45 minutes.
After a break, we filled out a critical thinking test that I now know is the Watson-Glaser test. It was full of comprehension and inference questions and took about 30 minutes to complete.
After another break, we were split into pairs and we role played being both a student and a clinician in the VV program, where we were introduced to the concept of picturing and using felts. I put on my bubbliest tutor demeanour for this part.
After this part, a lot of candidates were culled, though out of my sight during a break. Some of us were called for a one-on-one interview with the Assistant Centre Director, who asked us about our employment and educational backgrounds before delving into a stock set of scenario-based questions.
I want to say the whole thing from top to tail took about three hours, a bit less if you didn’t pass the tests or roleplay portions.
I was offered the job via a phone call about a week later.
