    Pros

    - Great staff, everyone is welcoming and like a family. We often went for drinks together for birthdays, etc. Everyone is interesting, funny, quirky, and the team has tonnes of personality (Exeter store specifically). They're the main reason I stayed working there.
    -Usually not too quiet, so you don't get bored or left standing around
    -Very lax rules on tattoos, piercings, hair dye etc so you can look and be whoever you want
    -Hours tend to be short, with an hour lunch break with access to a tv and any DVD you want to watch from the store
    -30 percent store discount for all staff as well as access to pre-orders and exclusives
    -Weekly meetings to keep staff up to date with upcoming promos, budget, profits etc. You always know whats going on with the store and the company
    - Store is interesting to work in, customers are (for the most part) not too bad and interesting, you get to talk and learn about music and films

    -Head office are money-grabbing idiots. In winter, doors are not allowed to be shut, but employees are also not allowed to wear their uniform fleeces unless they wear their t shirts on TOP which is uncomfortable and looks stupid. Men weren't allowed to wear shorts in summer but women could wear shorts and skirts without tights, which makes male staff incredibly uncomfortable. Our stores' heating and AC was broken for years and no one was sent to fix it. A lot of equipment regularly broke and was never properly fixed or replaced. They don't want to spend any money and only care about profit.
    -The policies and restrictions can be a pain, such as merchandising being too strict but not actually well planned, causing stock to be over filled or badly organised, or not having enough stock for displays
    -Stock allocations are automatic, so you end up with literally hundreds of an item that barely sells and about 10 of an object in high demand (and im not exaggerating those numbers either)
    -No progression at all, and there are clear favorites
    -Poor training, often undertaken by staff who were not fully trained themselves and trying to complete their own work at the same time. Management NEVER do training or set aside proper time for it.
    -Staff are often given negative feedback for making mistakes, but are NEVER praised for good work.
    -Its almost impossible to get more or less hours or change your shift times. Which means work life balance can be really bad, or really good, and you have no way to change it
    -Targets are a nightmare. Management constantly go on about them but dont actually listen to staff when they offer ways to improve sales. Its a very 'Head office knows best' type company

    Head office really screw over the store management and make issues for all store staff. They are money grabbing and ONLY care about profit. They dont care about staff, customers, stores. They just want the money. They'd be much better off if the new owner got rid of all the higher ups and replaced them with people who aren't just after money and power and actually care about the company. Working there is great, but only for the first year or so, and then the issues start to really grate on you..

    Rat an das Management

    Look after your staff and actually have faith in them, and maybe offer some sort of incentive for good work instead of only punishing bad work. You can't get good results if you only give negative feedback. Scrap the stupid targets, everyone hates us trying to sell them, INCLUDING customers.

    Staff are pleasant and seem understanding when you mess up, good for entertainment fans. Fun environment and nostalgic

    Company keeps going under so no job security, poor pay, overemphasis on selling overpriced Pure cards for which you are tracked daily
