    Pros

    My coworkers were some of the most kind, intelligent people I've ever known. I enjoyed every minute working with them. The insurance is also good, and the free drinks and snacks were nice perks.

    Upper management refuses to listen to employees. There were several times my coworkers would go to them about an issue and not only was the problem not resolved, they were told to work it out on their own. Providing feedback was impossible.     The people are the best I've ever met in any job. I would love to continue keeping in touch with my ex-coworkers because IXL's community fostered a sense of friendship and closeness that isn't easy to find in other companies. How many companies do you see people voluntarily hanging out after hours, all the time? The benefits are pretty good.

    If you're applying for a software engineering job here, make sure that you ask for stock options- several people I know awkwardly found out they didn't have it when in casual conversation. Also note that while the base salary is competitive, they don't offer bonuses or much stock, so the total compensation is still lacking in general.     Your co-workers are awesome. The company has great events and some of the competitive benefits they employ to engage with Ivy Leage talent trickles down to the rest of the staff.

    Routine, mysterious mass firings. I saw this happen four times in my year and a half there, and each time the firings gutted departments. They treat full-time employees like contractors -- use until not necessary, and then fire immediately.       Projects got canceled very frequently. No work to do for a long time.
