Yesterday, the company informed me that the role I was going to take on in two months' time was cancelled - the argumentation: all remote jobs were cancelled or discontinued and we’d hired too many employees. Despite the fact my direct manager lives in the same location as I do, my contract precisely defined the time I should be in the HQ - it was in the best case a hybrid role. I feel sorry for the team I was supposed to lead and be part of - they demanded a manager for a long time and it’s uncertain if they going to even look for a local replacement.

- It’s 2022, and the whole world already learned how to get the most out of hybrid and remote mode (even if they're not ideal, people know now how to cope with the situation) - this company just let down all their employees who can’t be present in the office every day! - They were not consequent: some ppl will still work remotely - this shows me that the management can pick any argument they want and force decisions on the rest - if you push back, the only answer you’ll get was „sorry, not my decision, it was the CEO”. - They are inefficient - they will keep spending money on the agency which supports the team just to figure in 2023 out they need to cut costs further.
