Pros
- Latest powerful laptops replaced every 3 years so they stay pretty current - Office is located near the train station - which is convenient if you live on the east side of Melbourne - Only have to be in the office 2 days a week, for now, although a lot of people seem to abuse it
Kontras
Shareholders should be very concerned about the daily operation of this business. See the points below, but it indicates that the company is barely hanging on financially. - Recent switch from Slack to Teams has been terrible for collaboration and communication. It will never improve because Teams is just bad software. And why was there a switch? To save money and get someone senior a bonus, but the workers never see any benefit of that saving - Everyone is forced to use annual leave for 2 days after Easter and 7 days at end of December. Makes it almost impossible to use your leave to have a decent life/work balance - When people resign, the position usually gets erased, or turned into a cheaper contractor role from overseas, or very rarely replaced with another local FTE hire but rehiring takes many months. All of these pile heaps of extra pressure on the rest of the team members - The term Hiring Freeze is frequently used throughout the year to prevent decent staffing levels and reduce that stress and pressure the rest of the team is feeling - "Benefits" include paltry discounts on gift cards, cheap parking that is frequently unavailable, cereal, Tim Tams, free coffee, and you can use two days per year of your sick leave to just "refuel".
