Pros

Despite dedicating significant time and effort, we received no compensation for our work. There were no meaningful learning opportunities or professional growth. Volunteering here felt like an exploitative experience rather than a chance to gain valuable skills or contribute meaningfully.

Kontras

The CEO is extremely manipulative and often creates a toxic work environment. It feels like a one-man show where the CEO's whims dictate the company’s direction, leaving no room for collaboration or team input. The work culture discourages innovation and personal growth, as the CEO tends to micromanage and undermine employees' efforts. Additionally, the environment fosters disharmony among team members, seemingly to benefit the CEO's desire to maintain control through micromanagement. Overall, this is not a company I would recommend to anyone seeking a supportive and collaborative workplace. The leadership style is detrimental to both employee morale and productivity.

Pros

I come from a forprofit background as former Ops/Finance VP of a major worldwide brand in personal care and cosmetics. After 10 years I left after stress and too many long hours, then went to explore several nonprofits. I landed here after that exploration, impressed by leadership. -Full Recruiting Department, ongoing hiring. They don't wait to have a need, they are constantly hiring. Always looking for good people. -They have an ROI. Most nonprofits don't. -Balance is emphasized here, although sometimes a late night here or there occurs. It is for good reason, ie a new client. In general, you can get balance. This was imperative for me. Too many forprofits burn you out, and then I found out many well meaning nonprofits do too. So it can be rare to find. -As a nonprofit they have revenue streams, ongoing. Not just end of year fundraising. -They are open to feedback. I implemented a lot of work in employee development, and financial modeling from Sephora here, and they adopted it, so that was great.

Kontras

I don't have a lot of cons to mention. We were prepared as an already global team when COVID came. All the systems were set up and we just added more cultural events online, ie the potluck we all share our lunches together online rather than in the office. It's a rare place to find this as I thought nonprofits would be much easier to work at than forprofits, but it is not always the case. Just like forprofit you have to find a good one, and this is a good one. Don't just think nonprofits are all good.
