Pros

I really enjoy the people I work with; the operators are great and my supervisor is awesome. The corporate culture is very strong, and the opportunities for training are endless. This company hires primarily from within, so there are excellent opportunities for advancement and inter-department/inter-location transfer. They are also the highest paying contractor in the area. Supervisors are empowered to structure their shift and run the operation as they see fit within the standard operating procedures. The equipment is in reasonably good shape. Work-life balance opportunities are awesome for this position.

Kontras

Management seems distant, hard to reach and harder to get time with. I also question their subject matter expertise. It's tough to implement change and improvement initiatives here because we operate very close to our budget limitations. We don't do a lot of team building activities here which I think hurts corporate performance. Corporate reps from the USA and France are often applying pressure to reduce expenses, even at the cost of negatively affecting service performance. The pay is real good, but not great. This isn't exactly a con, but it's really hard to retain good people with an abundance of higher paying government jobs available in the area.

Pros

Pay is decent, plenty of opportunity for over time. Management is decent most of the time. Opportunities for advancement and to work at other sights when work is down

Kontras

University holidays, breaks, and summer semester create a lot of financial hardships because those days are unpaid. After a year you get a week of PTO. No sick leave. They have a very strict point system. If you call out or leave early you lose points. 2 points per call out. They do not accept doctors notes. If you miss 5 days you're out of a job. The union helps but they have been more focused on pay increases when their is so much wrong. You are not only monitored by AI on the bus along with cameras but also have supervisors onsight that heavily enforce protocol in a way that makes the job highly stressful. You get pulled to the carpet over the most minor stuff. All of this has been from my perspective as driver. Their are better places out there in the industry but for this area you feel the safest here. If you can stomach all of this then try to advance as soon as you can. It gets much more flexible once you are in the office or become a supervisor.
