Pros
Flexible hours and some good coworkers.
Kontras
Gross incompetence at nearly every level. Subpar mentors are hired at an alarming rate due to below average pay and genuine talent seeing the writing on the walls. No benefits, no 401k, $25 an hour for a job where the median hourly rate is nearly double that. No real opportunity to progress career wise. Management is promoted at a Peter Principle level, and has only gotten worse since the Chegg buyout. People wildly unqualified are somehow moving up the ladder due to sheer favoritism. Which in turn creates more problems and disfunction. Student quality has severely dropped off. Thinkful changed their marketing to appeal to lower income students, and attempts to lure them in with predatory tactics. Students getting real jobs after completion is much lower than they lead you to believe. I love being a mentor, but far too many students are getting into coding for the wrong reasons, and Thinkful is allowing them to sign their future away.
