Pros
This would be a great company to get your foot into Tech, and I will admit they do a decent job of allowing you to balance personal needs with professional needs. Although, this is starting to change due to certain leaders decisions.
Those are truly the only 'Pros' to this company in its present state.
Kontras
Condescending, ineffective leadership - the people tasked with 'leading' are not experts in areas they oversee. To the point some of them have openly admitted this in front of the team they 'lead'. You need to be an expert in the field or area you are tasked with overseeing. I have no idea how the senior leaders do not recognize this universal truth, it is one of the most fundamental aspects of team building. Nobody is going to take a leader serious who admits they dont like the job theyre tasked with managing, or that they were bad at the job. I cannot believe I even need to say this part, but its clear that nobody has provided this feedback before.
Culture of fear - Employees are afraid to speak up and give their honest opinions out of fear for retaliation from leadership. I wouldnt be surprised if they try narrowing down who supplied this review and then holding it against me in some way. As indicated by my above point, this comes down specifically to the individuals you have tasked with "leadership" and how they treat others in the workplace. Youve not just placed people into leadership roles, but have promoted them when they are actively hostile or aggressive individuals. Nobody wants to work for or with that.
No culture around performance - Its weird to see leaders who are so complacent and seem okay with being average. Its beyond uninspiring and isnt the kind of environment for high performing individuals, it will likely drive you nuts with time.
Ever changing Compensation - This makes it nearly impossible to get good at the job, in addition to being highly irritating and flat out unmindful. Prospective employees should fully expect their comp plans to be changed numerous times per year (yes, seriously), with Senior Leadership announcing changes before they have any details laid out. The company has quite possibly the worst change management process Ive had to unfortunately experience.
Zero coaching and development - Simply put, this will not likely be an organization where you can grow in any professional sense. There is no culture of mentorship, or genuine coaching. Its not a serious effort in the slightest. But hey, keep jumping on podcasts with each other, thats CERTAINLY going to help change your companys culture and performance trajectory.
Very ineffective at feedback - Ive become convinced that most leaders in the company will give feedback simply because they feel it is their position to do so, even when they are giving objectively incorrect information. It just highlights how terrible of decisions theyve made around personnel, specifically when it comes to their leaders. If you're going to try correcting an employee, you better know what you're talking about and you better be right, or else your credibility is going to take a substantial hit.
Roughshod product development - Updates are never on time or when promised, to the point they even conflate or lie about this simply so they can market it to potential customers (Um...what?). No clue why these issues are so pervasive but its very consistent, you can't give clients any rough time frame because every time provided ends up being incorrect. Its clear that the Product side of the org is in well above their head.
Idealistic and not rooted in actionable reality - Artificial Intelligence is not going to help your employees magically become more skilled in their roles. That requires your MANAGERS to actually MANAGE and DEVELOP their teams, something which this company has zero culture around. This ones very straight forward. This company lack the capability to coach or develop its employees.
Nepotism and Cliqueness - They seem to only accept 'yes people', and those who they are close with or related to. If you become an employee, youll quickly recognize specifically what Im referring to. Even when it comes to Slack messages, those are the people who get answers
