Schlumberger treats suppliers poorly (i.e. deciding to suspend payments to achieve quarterly earning objectives), making certain jobs very difficult and sacrificing delivery and customer satisfaction. As managers move frequently (2-3 years is the typical tenure), many decisions made only look at short term (3-6 month) business implications, ignoring long term health of the company. Frequent lay-offs, leaving groups consistently short-staffed and over-worked. Risk-adverse to a fault. Tends only to hire fresh-out technical employees
