Pros

Working at Rio ESG had its merits. The compensation was competitive, aligning with market standards (although there are almost no additional benefits), and the team, excluding senior management, were excellent. Colleagues were friendly, making for a pleasant working atmosphere.

Kontras

Regrettably, Rio ESG fell short in many crucial aspects. The lack of a clear product vision and an absence of strategic alignment across the organisation left employees adrift, unable to define the company's purpose. A toxic culture, driven by senior leadership who dictated decisions without utilising the team's skills, perpetuated an atmosphere of fear and stifled creativity. Speaking up or suggesting ideas often resulted in backlash, leading to several employees effectively being ousted. There was little adherence to processes throughout the company, except in product development. Company values were seldom upheld, primarily because they weren't reflected in leadership's actions. While initial opportunities for growth existed, they were precarious, as the organisation could turn on you abruptly. The culture, which I would compare to a form of gaslighting, initially welcomed newcomers but soon left them isolated with minimal training. Beneath the surface of kindness, intermittent negative comments and unreasonable requests created a sense of confusion and stress among employees. The high turnover rate and lack of career progression opportunities were symptomatic of a company ruled by a dictatorial CEO.
