Bait and switching -- lots promised during interview and negotiations for hire, but almost all not met or switched to something unfavorable for the employee(s) when it came down to it; Staff picks out their own titles, whether it makes sense of not -- lots of title inflation; Employees who don't necessarily have the role or power to make decisions will express their "decisions" then be trumped later, i.e. giving work from home or out of office policies that later weren't kosher with the executives; Job duties that were agreed upon during hire are suddenly switched and not what was expected with the executives; Non-present CEO or leadership -- CEO shown as face of company on company website no longer even associated; "co-founders" are three professionals who are wrapped up in other endeavors, not really present in the office yet are the ones delegating what works or not works within the office; Significant low-balling -- looking for cheap work yet aggressive application of pressure to perform beyond expectations set during hire; Turn-over -- for a team below 10, turn over is obnoxious.. says a lot of how the interviewing and hiring process is being handled.. unqualified team members are making decisions that are not theirs to make and the new hire is the one that suffers for it. At the stage their in, compared to many other start ups in the same field, turnover is double almost triple the rate; No plan -- Ideas are started and scrapped within 1-3 weeks, no chance for anything to mature or see real results, including projects, strategies and hires. No leadership present to help coach or make employees better. If you don't do what they like, or more realistic with the company, don't do what's expected even though no expectations were properly set, you're cut; Work-life balance is expressed but not practiced, scheduling is a mess -- Short-notice after hours meetings are set to fit executives' schedules, instead of doing what works best for the entire team; execs aren't present when needed, lots of time wasted waiting around for them and lots of meetings no-showed by them or started late even up to 2 hours yet no leeway given to employees themselves;
