Pros
In my experience, RVO Health is a place where you can do fulfilling and career-making work with incredibly talented, intelligent and kind people. Like anywhere else, there are pros and cons. But as far as corporate jobs go, I haven’t seen many other places where the work is as interesting and challenging while also actually focused on making lives better. To try and make this review helpful, I’ll lay out some pros and cons as I see them. In a nutshell, nothing like this business currently exists. It’s a young joint venture that brought together several leading brands in the health, media, and tech spaces. They’re sharing capabilities, talent and bandwidth to develop new solutions that make navigating healthcare easier, cheaper and more effective for people. That’s hard. But I’ve found it to be really fun and rewarding. And we’ve made considerable progress so far. Still, it’s a private, for-profit business. So at times we’re at the mercy of market forces and have to adapt. That can make things feel uncertain. Some people feel understandably uncomfortable in that environment. You’ll probably like it here and do well if you are comfortable with ambiguity, enjoy solving problems and taking on new business challenges–possibly more than you expected to–and if you are adaptable and collaborative.
Kontras
I’ve seen colleagues who prefer work that is structured and prescriptive and reliably similar each day, and who dislike changing or ambiguous business conditions, get frustrated and want to leave. Benefits and pay are mid to upper market, but not top of market. Finance & FinTech probably pays more for most, though not all, similar roles. Being just two years old, some things are still in the works. Some silos still have to be broken down and the overall culture is still developing. Like most places, individual experiences can vary somewhat from team to team. But overall, if you’re smart, good at what you do, have an entrepreneurial spirit and show up with a growth mindset, I’d be surprised if you don’t thrive here.
