Pros
Come and go as you please, lack of accountability for poor performance, average starting pay, easily get hired without any expectations to produce, free coffee and snacks, collect a paycheck every two weeks, off-campus lunches where 'in-crowd" employees can take as long as they like, some employees are highly talented individuals and work great together.
Kontras
No pay raises or support for top producing employees, while others get raises for never finishing abstract projects but making "buddies" with the CEO. Long history of drug/alchohol use by employees on-site. Over-spending on R&D materials (inventory waste) and sales conventions but no employee benefits or ROI on conventions. Hourly production employees carry majority of company weight while salaried employees get paid to produce no value with little to no accountability. Instruments are rushed out and often not capable of providing accurate measurements as advertised due to lack of constant revenue and management not caring about accuracy because they just need to "get a check in." Vendors are often not paid as promised or are constantly threatening collections. Lack of culpability in paying vendors causes inventory sourcing problems. CEO requires you to take Enneagram or abstract psychometric exams often with religious connotations, poor department leadership with dept. heads getting high compensation while making constant errors and no accountability, lack of institutional knowledge costs large amounts of production expenditures due to poor documentation and re-learning things over again. Work environment is in disrepair, moldy A/C ducts and carpets, unsafe electrical wires all over facility, no periodic cleaning of facilities or restrooms. Only one women's bathroom, 3 men's bathrooms. CEO will hire outside consultants to fix problems and fire people, then when they fail to succeed, employee resentment increases while problems continue to grow. CEO shows unstable emotional/mental stability and creates a highly stressful and unpredictable environment and will often take frustrations out on employees. Chief Scientist and CEO are father/daughter and will often have inappropriate shouting and cussing interactions in front of employees and customers. Constant lay-offs or reductions in allowed work hours for hourly employees due to lack of sales revenues.
