Pros
Non profit company that goes above and beyond for the clients no matter their abilities or disabilities. Focus on the client rather than on the money that they bring in via insurance or waivers. There used to be a focus on providing above average training and insistence upon quality supports rather than a bare minimum to meet basic standards and guidelines. Good package of PTO, Holiday pay and sick pay if you can find shift coverage. Decent medical benefits given how expensive insurance is these days.
Kontras
There used to be an emphasis on joining NADSP and obtaining training and certification as a member of NADSP to improve the quality of the supports being provided to the clients. There used to be a team atmosphere, there was no I. Now there is a growing trend towards I and no team. Employees with toxic, "I can't be bothered with doing..., I don't have time to be fussing with this, the job is to hard, %^%& does not need access to their belongings, I can't do my job," attitudes are not only allowed but they are encouraged.
