The other nurses are like family-Other staff are great to work for, for the most part. We are mostly team players and lift one another up under difficult circumstances. Training for new nurses is encouraged. Working in this historic building with this unique population is amazing.

The nurses are not always respected by the doctors. Some doctors are amazing, others treat us like they are patting us on the head and communicate with only negative criticism with no regard for how much work we do with so little resources. Also, while it has improved a lot, we are always understaffed and often asked to put hospital's needs before patient and our safety (speed>thoroughness) but I suspect this is not a unique situation. The buidling is also very old mixed with new and old so you will have a new appliance taped and glued to something else and either 40 sockets or 0. Staff areas like lounges and restrooms are often neglected in cleaning.
