Sometimes you'll get lucky and make decent money that day

During my hiring tour I was told, verbatim, "we hire anybody with a pulse. as long as you don't have any theft on your record, have a driver's license, and can pass a drug test, you're hired." If you can't meet those 3 requirements you can just go work for one of the subcontracting companies in the lane next to you. They pay them under the table and the whole operation is incredibly shady. This is very much a high-turnover company/position and they have no problem with that. The INSTANT you get hurt, and you will doing this sort of manual labor, they look at you like a liability and start pushing you out. The managers spend their entire day in the office, except for periodic rounds to try and catch people on their phones. The supervisors actually on the floor treat the place like high school. Actively not only forming cliques and fostering animosity among employees but outwardly and openly mocking those they personally don't like as well. There's no upward mobility with this company so I guess if you do the same job for 10-15 years you get a little insecure about the fact you're not actually in power.
