Pros

Great health insurance. Some of your colleagues Faculty

Kontras

The tuition reimbursement could be better. But if you're a BIPOC run the other way!! Working here you will be plagued with descrimation, implicit bias and systematic racism. HR is no help, since they are all white middle aged men and women and have no clue. I brought forth all my issues and spacufically named the bigots that made me life hard there and HR did nothing but promote them to other departments, where they will continue to keep resources and opportunities from BIPOCs. I finally was able to find a new job to leave and was given a survey to take for central campus since I worked for MIT Sloan. I asked to be contacted but here I am, a month later and have heard nothing. MIT and MIT do not care about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Literally, go work anywhere else, if you're a person of color. Then to top everything off, I wasn't paid my full vacation/comp time.

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Kontras

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
