Pros
The clients were what made this job rewarding.
Kontras
Absolutely terrible pay. I was in a Masters Program with one year of previous ABA experience when I worked here and I got $16.50. I was put on some cases that made me feel unsafe and I when I raised the issue with HR I was told, “Well maybe this isn’t the job for you.” I showed up on time to all of my cases, many of my clients mastered or progressed in their programs, and I always picked up sub-cases. I felt that I was not appreciated after this comment. I was put on a case with a 250 pound, 6’2 male who was non-verbal and had documented incidents of aggression with past Behavior Instructors. I truly wanted to help this client and his family, but I would get sick to my stomach with nerves before our sessions based on my past experiences with this client (grabbing my wrist, pushing me out the door, throwing my belongings and other items at me). I know this is part of the job sometimes, but employees should never fear for their safety.
