Pros

- Cutting-edge work in quantum computing with real technical talent across the organization. - Opportunity to work on genuinely novel problems in a frontier industry.

Kontras

- Leadership rarely communicates a clear direction, leaving teams to operate without adequate strategic guidance. - Roles and responsibility areas within teams are poorly defined, leading to confusion, overlap, and accountability gaps. - Despite ambitious future plans, the company sticks to a startup mentality that would not scale so well: informal processes, unclear decision-making authority, and resistance to the structure needed for a larger organization. - There are some cultural issues in parts of the organization, and an atmosphere that not everyone feels comfortable in.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for your contribution to IQM. We're pleased to hear that you valued the opportunity to work on cutting-edge quantum computing challenges alongside talented colleagues. Building exceptional technology starts with exceptional people, and we're proud of the expertise and dedication across our teams. We also appreciate your candid feedback regarding leadership, organizational clarity, and ways of working. As we've grown rapidly over the past few years, we've been continuously evolving our operating model, processes, and organizational structures to better support a larger and more diverse organization. While progress has been made, we recognize that change is not always experienced consistently across all teams. Creating clear direction, well-defined responsibilities, and an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable contributing are areas that remain important priorities for us. Feedback such as yours helps us identify where we need to continue improving. Thank you again for sharing your perspective, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

The people are IQM’s best assets. High quality people that make high quality products. EPassi benefits are nice

Kontras

The resources are not utilised properly and some teams are suffering under the pressure without concrete solutions, for several years now. The lower ranking employees bring up solutions to their own problems but the management doesn’t seem to listen. In addition the company has shared a new salary transparency system for the employees but seems unable to live up to their own standards (I am significantly underpaid). Career opportunities and development are lacking in some departments and the positions end up being ‘dead end’.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, and especially for your long-term contribution to IQM's success! We’re really glad to hear that you value your colleagues and the quality of the work - we agree that our people are one of our biggest strengths. At the same time, we want to acknowledge your concerns. The points you raise around workload, resource allocation, and feeling unheard are important, and we don’t want that to be anyone’s experience. We’ve seen similar themes in internal feedback, and improving how we listen and respond is something we’re actively working on. On compensation and career development, we’d like to provide some additional context. We recently introduced a new salary transparency framework and run bi-annual performance and compensation review cycles. Across the company, many employees have seen growth in responsibilities, role scope, and compensation over time, including a significant number of promotions in recent cycles. That said, we recognize that individual experiences may not always feel aligned with these broader efforts (especially during periods of transition) and that’s something we take seriously. Regarding career growth, as a growing organization we are continuously evolving our career paths across functions. While some areas are already clearly defined and others are still being developed, our ongoing growth is creating new opportunities and helping us make progression paths clearer and more accessible. If you feel comfortable, we’d strongly encourage you to discuss your situation with your team leader and our People & Culture team so we can better understand your perspective and support you directly. We also want to address your point about ideas not being heard. While we have multiple channels for employee feedback and regularly review input across the company, it’s clear from your experience that we don’t always get this right in practice. Making sure feedback leads to visible action is an area we continue to improve. Thank you again for sharing your perspective - it helps us reflect, and continue building a better experience for everyone at IQM.
