Many pros such as a fantastic compensation package (including competitive salary, solid pension plan, generous bonus structure, share purchase plan, etc.), excellent downtown head office location, and a pleasant, quiet office environment.
Kontras
Working in Human Resources proved challenging as the department garnered very little respect among other departments at head office (and beyond). The department was strongly associated with poor people managers, for being unaccountable, delivering little value and was perceived as bloated. As a result, there was a credibility gap that needed be overcome. A company restructuring in the face of low gold prices dissolved most of the HR department and its programs and re-focused the area on core activities. As such, the only drawback to working at IAMGOLD today would be a generally depressed market environment.
