Funny Story...My manager denied by bonus after declaring it would be paid to me. Hope it doesn’t happen to you. She did that out of retaliation b/c I left the firm several weeks after bonuses were declared…well…guess what…it’s a free country and I was the only CPA at the staff level, paid a staff salary—despite peers with less experience who were promoted above me. No…I was not “incompetent or lazy” – I actually had a good review. This, despite a hostile Senior Accountant who created a adverse work environment and accused me of "not knowing how to put in Journal Entries." You might be thinking I’m some “crazy person ranting,” but this is the first review I’ve ever written for anything. I probably should have gone to an attorney but I could care less, since I make over 50% more after switching jobs…yeah…newsflash…paying market rate is a fair reason to switch firms. Anyways, there are good people there, you can learn a lot about Real Estate Investments—but I think you should take a public firm environment over this if you have the chance.
