After three months at Express Solicitors, I was already dreading the commute to work. Not because of the workload or upcoming deadlines, but because I found the environment toxic and isolating. My manager regularly belittled me and made me feel stupid for asking questions. If you’re not one of their favourites, expect to feel excluded and unsupported. I often spoke more with other departments than my own team. I would also hear my manager talk about other team members behind their back so I can only imagine what they were saying about me.
The office isn't as bad as other reviews make it out to be. You can tell the company have invested a lot of money into it and it is fit for purpose, but the parking situation is poor. You need to arrive by 7:30am at the latest to get a space. Pay isn't great, and management’s lack of trust and empathy made an already demanding job even harder. I started applying elsewhere within months as I was unable to see a future in such a negative culture.
