The main problem I faced is that your life in the company depends on your Line and Project managers. Below are a few examples of how this guy affects you:
- if the Line manager cares, you might have consistent growth plans where everything depends on you doing something. Also, he might find better opportunities for you in terms of projects or conditions on this project, e.g. how many days you should work from the office if needed. If you were not that lucky, you might end up finding new projects by yourself and having your salary and growth plans not being discussed for years.
- The same is true for the Project manager. There is a system that depends on feedback. Say you doing a good job in your position. If PM is good, he will provide feedback regarding your performance which will be a very important argument in salary discussion. As you might already guess, if he does not care, there is almost no way for the company to know if you are trying hard because it is not reflected in the system.
And if you try to change your manager/discuss some issues with them, you might be considered as a person who is not comfortable to work with.
