In my experience, the organisation showed relatively low operational and governance maturity, especially in delivery, organisational assessment, and leadership accountability.
Professional challenge and objective assessments were not always well received, especially when they highlighted opportunities for organisational improvement. There was a tendency to interpret maturity assessments and governance observations as personal criticism rather than constructive mechanisms for improvement.
The environment lacked the discipline and structure needed to support effective transformation, delivery governance, and psychologically safe leadership. Decision-making could feel highly centralised and personality-driven, with limited independence or transparency in difficult situations.
For senior programme, governance, or transformation professionals, this can make it hard to operate effectively, especially when the role requires candid assessment, organisational challenge, and delivery improvement.
