Pros
- Initial training was good from an online perspective - Process was quick and easy to get started
Kontras
Where do I start? - From day 1 I was basically having "conversations" with limited to no support which was not how it was sold to me during training - Supervisors appear to do nothing on "the platform" and I have never once been reached out to personally by a "supervisor" when I've started a shift - The policies, procedures and approaches are unclear and the safety of those texting in is dubious at best. To me at night it looks like people are waiting HOURS for someone to help them. WHILE IN CRISIS! One person I texted with had waited, no joke, 5 hours to speak to someone. - From what I've been able to gather most of the "staff" do not have any professional experience in crisis intervention, psychology, mental health or safety. I've asked around and most don't even have a Masters degree and it was unclear if some had a Bachelors degree - One "supervisor" admitted in chat that they had fallen asleep as I volunteer at night due to my work schedule which they laughed about - I get random emails from someone that is supposed to help with engagement but their emails but are very unclear what on earth they are going on about and why they are emailing everyone - After volunteering for more than 10+ months I've NEVER had or been asked to refresh or update my learning/training so I assume that is an organization wide problem? - Last year their CEO was fired and a huge amount of negativity surrounded the company to do with racism etc.
