Pros

Projects are fun and opportunities are plentiful. Most of the people that work here are very nice and willing to help. As a project manager you are overworked and overscoped, this is a benefit because you are forced to learn so much and grow tremendously quickly.

Kontras

As I mentioned in the benefits, we are tremendously overworked and overscoped. The project managers at this company are a catch all role and are responsible for every facet of the project. Internal teams non responsive and putting the project at risk? Then it's the project managers fault and they are liable for the success. It seems like there is no accountability for everyone that is not a project manager or their managers because there are literally dozens of reports tied back to the project manager. The day to day is not how well you can do at your project, instead, its how many reports can you stay off of. The other con is that the company prides itself on having core hours and a flexible work schedule, but that has turned the company in to working 24/7. It's extremely common to see teams working saturday/sunday and seeing emails fly at all hours of the night.

Pros

Great work-life balance and work-from-home option on Mondays and Fridays. Great place to learn about the industry, as ComEd/Exelon is a leader in its field. Generally a very positive work culture, with a few toxic people here and there - no different from any company. They also encourage you to move around to different roles if you so choose, which is really supportive and unique among companies.

Kontras

Pay is FAR below the industry standard. Lots of PMs are jumping ship for $30K - $50K more pay doing the same job in other companies - including ComEd's consulting firms. And now, it appears that the annual bonus is going to be partially cut by the new "high performance workforce" initiative - thereby eliminating the final incentive to stay. Unfortunately, I have now joined the ranks of those looking for greener pastures myself. I'd love to stay, but I can't ignore the ability to make $40K more elsewhere.
